Sarah J. Chavez, therapist

Sarah J. Chavez, M.S., LPCC

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor · California

I became a therapist because I saw how often people carry hard things quietly. My work is collaborative and strength-based: we start with what you already survive well, then build from there.

As a first-generation Latina clinician, I know therapy can feel unfamiliar in families where you were taught to keep going. Culture, family, faith, and language belong in the room. Care is not one-size-fits-all, and neither are you.

The semicolon in my logo is there on purpose: a sentence that continues.

How I work

I blend a few approaches depending on what you need — here's what that means in plain language.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

We look at the thoughts that run in the background and practice steadier ones.

Trauma-informed care

Safety and pacing come first. You decide what we open and when.

Mindfulness

Simple ways to come back to your body when your mind is racing ahead.

Solution-focused work

We build on what already works in your life instead of starting from zero.

Family systems

Your family shaped the patterns. We look at them with care, not blame.

Humanistic care

You are the expert on your life. I bring training, questions, and steadiness.
